What is Mindfulness Meditation?

A recognition of the here and now.

Meditation is a skill. Just like any other skill, it takes consistent practice to get comfortable.

Meditation practice teaches us how to observe our thoughts and feelings, without judgments, in order to gain a healthy sense of perspective and clarity.

Neuroplasticity.

Studies suggest that regular meditation practice produces measurable changes in the brain, from increased gray matter (which serves to process information),to enhanced connectivity between brain regions .

This is Neuroplasticity in action.

Meditation can also help relieve anxiety and depression symptoms, as well as improve attention, concentration, and overall well-being.

Mindfulness means maintaining a moment by moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, sensations, and surrounding environment.

Mindfulness is often described as an awareness, or a wakefulness. Many practitioners may also describe mindfulness as being our true nature.

Together, this connection between mindfulness and meditation allows us to engage fully with ourselves, and to live our lives within the present moment

By using meditation techniques, one can train their attention, and awareness. This training can wake us up to habits and behaviors we may not have been aware of , and may be causing us to suffer.

Through mindfulness practice, we learn how to be fully present and engaged in the moment. We learn to live life in the here and now, instead of rehashing the past, or imagining the future.

Mindfulness Meditation is a training of attention that allows one to live with more acceptance, awareness, and freedom.
